FAQs
How are You different from a life coach or nutritionist?
An Integrative Health Coach takes a holistic approach to well-being, guiding clients in making sustainable lifestyle changes that support physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Unlike a Life Coach, who focuses on personal and professional growth, goal-setting, and mindset shifts, an Integrative Health Coach specifically helps clients improve their overall well-being through habits like nutrition, movement, stress management, and sleep. While a Nutritionist provides expert dietary advice and meal planning based on food science, an Integrative Health Coach empowers clients to make informed health choices without prescribing specific diets, blending elements of behavior change, accountability, and whole-person wellness.
What areas of my life can you help me with?
An Integrative Health Coach supports whole-person well-being by helping clients make sustainable lifestyle changes in key areas such as nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep, relationships, and spiritual growth. They guide clients in developing healthier eating habits, finding enjoyable ways to stay active, managing stress through mindfulness, improving sleep quality, and fostering meaningful connections. Additionally, they support behavior change, self-motivation, and longevity by addressing aging and disease prevention through lifestyle choices. Unlike traditional health professionals, an Integrative Health Coach empowers clients to create balance in body, mind, and spirit, leading to lasting well-being.
Are you covered by my health insurance?
In Connecticut, insurance coverage for integrative health coaching is currently limited and varies by provider. Some insurance plans are beginning to recognize the value of integrative and preventive health services, including health coaching, and may offer partial or full coverage. However, this is not yet standard practice.
Additionally, clients may use Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to pay for health coaching services.
It's advisable to consult directly with your insurance provider to determine if health coaching services are covered under your specific plan.
Will I have to give up foods I enjoy?
No way! Working with an Integrative Health Coach doesn’t mean you have to give up the foods you enjoy! Instead of strict rules or deprivation, health coaching focuses on balance, mindful choices, and sustainable habits that align with your goals. Rather than eliminating foods, your coach will help you explore healthier versions, mindful eating practices, and ways to enjoy your favorite foods in moderation while still nourishing your body. The goal is to create a positive, long-term relationship with food that supports both your well-being and enjoyment.
Do you provide workout plans?
Integrative Health Coaches don’t provide structured workout plans like personal trainers but help clients find enjoyable, sustainable ways to stay active. They support behavior change, encourage consistency, and guide clients in incorporating movement for overall well-being—whether through yoga, walking, strength training, or other activities. While they offer general guidance on mindful movement and balance, they may refer clients to fitness professionals for personalized workout plans. Their focus is on helping clients develop a lasting, positive relationship with physical activity that aligns with their lifestyle and health goals.
Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?
No, you don’t need to be flexible to do yoga! Yoga is not about touching your toes or achieving perfect poses—it’s about connecting with your body, breath, and mind. Flexibility is something that develops over time with consistent practice, but it’s not a prerequisite. Yoga meets you where you are, helping to build strength, mobility, and balance at your own pace. Whether you're stiff or flexible, yoga is for everyone, and modifications make it accessible to all bodies. Just start where you are, and enjoy the journey!
